Happy Again

My order came through from the ONS with the 2 threads I had chosen. Both are DMC. I'm not sure if the spool is in the same range as the one that Santa of the Forest is charted for (284Z), but it seems spooky that it's a DMC 284 gold metallic. Anyway after careful consideration I decided to go with the spool, although both threads are very similar, not much to choose between either of them. The reason I went with the spool was that I felt is was a bit smoother in texture. It still behaves in the same way as other metallics though, unruly! It it thinner that the Petite Treasure Braid so it doesn't stitch quite so bulky.

I'm really pleased with the results. The bottom section of the piece is now complete, except his right-hand cuff. The backstitching on hif left-hand cuff is stitched with 2 strands. One strand was just too thin and didn't show up at all.

I shall perhaps have a day of Random Thought tomorrow, while watching Wimbledon. I watched a bit of the Ladies Final but I'm not much into the womens game, too many screechers.

Looks lovely Andrea, really great with the gold and green. Have you tried Thread Heaven with metallics?

I actually inquired about this many years ago...when I first stitched a L&L. They're the same thing. The "Z" is just to indicate the one on the spool...according to the L&L crew...

I honestly can't use DMC's metallic range. They are just horrible. I mix media and go with an art silk (rayon) or pure silk because they are beatiful when they catch the light and they are nice to work with.
