From Winter to Summer (edited fao Barb)

Dear friends and fellow bloggers,

How are you all. Hello to all my new followers. Welcome along. I hope you will enjoy your visit. Well we have hit August already. Doesn't seem that long ago we were going back to work after the New Year celebrations. At this moment of writing this blog post there are 144 days to Christmas! Just thought I would cheer you up!

Frosty Friends is nearing its conclusion. I have finished the penultimate one and I'm waiting on the last part. Have you all seen Jeanne's WIP of Frosty Forest? I really must urge you to go and see. I'm giving the next Classic Collection by Country Cottage Needleworks a miss, even though they are Christmas ornaments.

I'm working on a summer piece at the moment. Yes, you read it correctly "summer"! It is a Drawn Thread piece which is © 1996. A set of 4 seasons that I had no idea existed before I bought them from that well known auction site and I suspect are OOP. Of course the photo at the front of the chart is a little bit dark, the colours are so much more vibrant in real life. I'm working on 36st summer khaki, one of my favourite colour of linens. I have made one small change. The centre of the small sunflowers  (either side of 'garden') were supposed to be French knots but I changed that to Smyrna Crosses. I'm probably a bit over a third stitched so I'm hoping it won't take me too long.

A few weeks ago I made the trip to Shugborough. It's about an hours drive away but a country estate that I'd not visited in it's entirety. I had been to a craft show years and years ago but that was only in the grounds.

The weather was very pleasant, dry and sunny, but not too hot as we have had it recently. I can honestly say I had a really lovely visit. Being a Monday there were not too many people around so you had the feeling of having the place to yourself!

You were allowed to take photographs so that was the green light for me to click, click, click! I have chosen some stitching, sewing and craft related ones to show you here.

If ever you get a chance to go I would highly recommend it.

Edited fao Barb ... sorry your comment/email was no-reply so the answer is here.
Maybe I'm the only one, but what "well known auction site" are you referring to? I'm curious

Ebay!

Until next time ....

  3. I love your Frosty Forest Andrea. I received the last chart on Thursday but I think it'll be a while before I get to it!

I don't think I'll be signing up for the ornaments either. It's tempting but I'd rather see them first I think.

The Drawn Thread piece is very pretty.

Lovely photos from the country estate.

  19. Both Frosty friends and Summer are looking gorgeous. The chart for Summer was hard to find 15 years ago when I first started collecting DT designs so that was a good find.

    Great photos from Shugborough

  21. Shugborough looks like a fascinating place to visit, and your photos are wonderful.

"Frosty Forest" is just gorgeous! Oh dear, must we really be counting the days until Christmas already? These cooler days in August are really beginning to make one realize that the months are really fleeting!

    Blessings!
